I agree.. Almost. With the premise. But.. But but.. And I say this with all due admiration and respect for all the musicians who’ve made great music in the past. You all have also made music that has always been derivative.

This happened to me over the past several months.. And it was a slightly disappointing experience. I was figuring out the chords and tabs for all my favorite songs (all the awesome top 500 rock bangers we have come to call innovative and… To the outside listening in.. Not deep in the music industry.. Non derivative). And every time I would be surprised that.. It’s the same damn blues progressions or chords being used. Again and again and again. Change the tempo a bit.. And voila new song. I am of course over simplifying it.. But if we are talking derivative .. Then, come on.
