A comment about my latest blog on Jung: Abstraction isn’t the enemy. Science runs on abstractions. Genes, species, markets, memory, intelligence—none of these are tiny physical objects you can pull out and put on a table. The question isn’t whether an abstraction is “real.” The question is what work it does. Does it compress observations? Generate predictions? Connect to measurable mechanisms? Survive attempts to prove it wrong? A good abstraction earns its existence.
