“Apps” on a “Phone” are going to become a very ’legacy’ concept soon. The idea of UI gen on the fly based on requirements and an open-agentic platform that drives the flow of “work” (work in quotes because it can be actual official work, or your personal work, or anything you want to do interacting with the web-of-agents (called it, coined it, copyrighted, fuck you all :D)) is going to be the next thing. I don’t even know if Gen UI will be needed anyway. Maybe voice is enough. But, no… UI will be needed. Humans are visual creatures and in fact, some commands are best given through visual interactions than verbal communique. So yeah, maybe Gen-UI will be a mode of communication. But static apps ? I mean, in 2018, I had worked hard on building an app for the Land Department of Ajman that is completely dynamic. I’m going to try something with suno, a fusion between having a dirbakeh for percussion, a flamenco style rhythm guitar, and an overdriven lead guitar over a chord progression that shifts microtonally .. let’s see how that goes.

This idea that AI generated content is ‘slop’ vs human generated content being of ‘substance’ is such a sad and ’losing’ stance. It’s the same knee-jerk reaction by humans when they feel attacked. When drum machines came into existence, then ‘real musicians’ hated on them, when photoshop made the rounds, photographers cried, when cameras became a thing, artists cried. It’s always been like this. Any modern technology that somehow takes on human-centric tasks (and of course, does them way better than human hand-skill alone) becomes a thing to be feared, till of course the inevitable. It becomes commonplace and people forget they hated on it - till the next thing. And this is exactly what’s happening with ai. Now, this was me writing this purely ‘human-like’, I’m going to post this as a thought, then I’m going to have an ai make a full fledged blog-post out of it. Let’s see how unsubstance like it will be.
